• Library Services for Staff

    Library at IITGN extends its services for the entire IITGN community, including the staff members (administrative, technical, contractual, project and others). In addition to providing access to all resources and services in support of the day-to-day work, the library strives to empower you in developing professional and personal competencies through the range of information services designed exclusively for the staff of IITGN. Some of the basic services offered to staff members are as presented here.

Membership

Staff members on joining the Institute are entitled to use the library facilities by default and are requested to fill the membership form. Institute ID cards issued to each employee serve as library cards. Library also offers its membership to the Family Members (parents, spouse & children) of IITGN employees & students. Library also offers external memberships to facilitate institutional linkages & interactions for mutual benefit.


Library orientation

Library team invites every staff member on their joining the institute, for a library visit where in library staff not only introduces the resources, services, and library, but also gives a detailed tour of the library. This very first interaction allows library staff an opportunity to meet the new staff members and understand their nature of work and information needs.


Searching Books in Online Catalog

This serves as one-point access to search and locate the library collections in print.


Resources

Library has an ever growing collection of both print and digital resources available for staff to explore and make the best use of. The print collection, among other major collection includes Hindi books, children collection, Career related ones.

E-Newspaper Collection (PressReader): Explore the collection of 7000+ premium digital newspapers and magazines for the daily dose of news and current affairs.

Recommending new books: If the required book is not part of the library collection, staff members are requested to recommend the same

Services

Library offers a wide range of services to meet the ongoing information needs of our staff members.

  • Circulation
    Services

    The detailed information relating to borrowing privileges, circulation of reading materials along with other services offered to staff members are available here.

  • Inter Library Loan (ILL)

    Library, on a request from the staff member, will arrange for the book (s) on loan for a limited period from other libraries in our network which are not part of our collection.

  • Document Delivery Services (DDS)

    Library, on a request from the staff member, will arrange to get the required research papers from other libraries in our network which are not part of our journal collection.

  • Reference and Information Services

    Answering any questions, the staff may have in using the library, library resources, services and assisting them in person or virtually.

  • Computers, Copying, Printing, Scanning

    Library has a good number of computers available for use both in the main and mini library. In addition, photocopiers, printers and scanners are also available all the time when the library is open. Please bring papers with you while coming for photocopying/printing purposes.

  • Off-campus access

    Using this facility, staff can continue to access library e-resources when away from the campus or travelling.

  • Writing Assistance (Grammarly)

    You may please create an account to use the premium version of Grammarly (education) to assist you in your writing work.

  • Similarity Checking

    Using Turnitin software, the library offers this service to check the similarity, if any, in the documents you are using for office work purposes.


Alert Services

The number of current alert services are provided from time to time, including the following ones.

● New Arrivals: A weekly list of new books added to library collections usually sent in the beginning of every week.
● Author of the Week:: A well-known author whose books from the library collection would be of interest to a wider audience (IITGN Community) is identified and information about his/works are shared on a weekly basis.
● Book of the Week:: A popular title which will be of interest to a wider audience (IITGN Community) is identified and information about the same is shared on a weekly basis.
● Library Team wants you to know...: A weekly alert through which some of the interesting resources, collections and tools which would be of interest to the community are shared.
● Library Weekly Update: Resources, events, exhibits, services - all that Library added in the past week and wants to highlight, can be found in this one mailer!

  • Mini Library

    Small but beautiful and comfortable place located in the midst of your hostels.

● Pathfinders (Bibliographies): A list of books on a wide variety of topics available in library collection.
● Career Corner: A separate collection of interesting books to help choose your career path.
● Book Exchange: Leave a book and Take a Book: A facility through which you can share/donate your personal books with IITGN Community.
